Rolando Izquierdo, MD

Dr. Izquierdo completed a prestigious fellowship in shoulder and elbow reconstruction as well as sports medicine at Columbia University in New York City. There, he worked with world-renowned experts and mastered open and arthroscopic surgery for complex shoulder and elbow problems.

The son of Cuban immigrants, Dr. Izquierdo is fluent in both English and Spanish. He was born and raised in the Chicago area and attended Fenwick High School in Oak Park. After graduating from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, he attended Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine.

Dr. Izquierdo completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Cincinnatti Trauma Center and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. During this time he developed a special interest in adult and pediatric trauma and sports medicine.

Dr. Izquierdo brings to McHenry County very diverse experience in the care of adult and pediatric fractures, as well as the latest techniques in shoulder and elbow surgery, including total shoulder replacement, arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs, and open and arthroscopic treatment of shoulder instability. He also has significant experience in managing complex sports injuries to the knee including ACL reconstruction and cartilage transfer.
